Following graduation from Marysville High School in 1962, Darol went on to the University of Kansas, where he earned a Masters Degree in Education. He met and married Karen while at KU. Darol spent eleven years teaching history and coaching, mostly at Shawnee Mission West High School, in Overland Park, Kansas. He coached his wrestling team to state championships at West. Before and after his school duties, he started building houses in 1974, building over 800 houses. He eventually moved into development and founded Rodrock Development. Rodrock Development has built more than 70 Johnson County, Kansas new-home communities and over 25,000 people call a Rodrock Community home. Darol’s passion has been developing communities where families experience small town closeness by enjoying neighborhood amenities such as pools, walking trails and events through the Moms Councils. The Moms Council was created through Darol’s keen interest creating an environment focused on family events. The last 35 years he has also pursued his first love: the horses of Rodrock Ranches in Bucyrus, Kansas. He has competed in Western Pleasure, winning the most prestigious Quarter Horse Show, the Quarter Horse Congress. He has also competed in cutting events and placed third out of 290 entrants in the All-American Cutting Futurity. While riding horses and fishing are his pastimes, Darol is committed to fulfilling the needs of and building the best communities for the residents of Johnson County.

Tom Langhofer is an area family man who has spent his career in the real estate and construction loan finance industry. After graduating from the University of Kansas, Tom entered professional banking in the real estate loan department of a southern Johnson County bank. Seven years and two promotions later, he left the banker’s side of the table (and his title as Sr. Vice President and department head of Construction Loans) to join Rodrock Development. Tom has served as Rodrock Development’s general manager since 1989. With specialized hands-on real estate and construction loan expertise, Tom manages the company’s day-to-day company operating budget and helps oversee the financing of long-range development and construction projects. He also helps oversee the many marketing and public relations efforts involved in the successful and ongoing promotion of what is now the Kansas City area’s largest, single-family new-home community developer. Tom has served as past board member and Chairman of the Shawnee Economic Development Council, as an advisory board member of Enterprise Bank, and as a board member of the Olathe Economic Development Council. Tom is a founding board member of Overland Park-based Safety City. He is also a past board member of the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce, and past softball advisory board member of Blue Valley Recreation. Tom has also served as past board member and president of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City. Tom has been married to Marcy for 26 years. Their two daughters are following in the family’s KU heritage footsteps. Kathryn is a junior majoring in Communications with a Business minor; Erin just entered her freshman year. When he is not at work or spending time with his family, Tom says he finds a great source of inspiration and excitement from his involvement with Healing House (www.healinghousekc.org), a faith based recovery program in Kansas City, where he leads an Alpha Course, an introduction to the Christian faith and has joined the Board of Directors as the Director of Recovery. In addition to his faith-based work at Healing House, Tom also serves as a Men’s leader and Alpha leader at the Church of the Resurrection. His other free-time interests include fitness and KU basketball.
