Mom's Council

The Mom's Council is a unique concept originally created by Rodrock Development founder, Darol Rodrock. His idea was to help organize volunteers to plan community events. The goal? To help newcomers get acquainted and come together as a neighborhood. It’s an idea that works everywhere it is introduced.

Just what is it that is attracting so many new-home buyers to Rodrock communities? Some say it’s our thirty-five year track record as an award-winning Johnson County residential developer. Others say it’s the abundance of aesthetic, recreational and educational amenities. While that’s all true, when you ask the people who actually live in a Rodrock neighborhood, they’ll tell you that it’s the “know-your-neighbors” focus—supported by the Rodrock Mom's Council—that makes the difference.

The Rodrock Mom's Council was designed to help build a sense of connected-ness and belonging among new residents. Darol Rodrock’s vision was to help newcomers, young and not-as-young get acquainted and have fun. Each month, community volunteers plan activities that occur year-round.

Thanks to the efforts of the Mom's Council volunteers Rodrock residents are all re-discovering the joy of the “little things.” The wonder of the first flowering of spring, the magic of caroling on a crisp December night, the reward of helping others, the playfulness of summer, and the priceless gift of simply being together.

Where did an idea like this originate? Where all good ideas come from—the heart. “The people in our lives are so precious, and time is so scarce,” says Darol Rodrock. “It’s heartwarming to see neighbors of all ages getting to know one another and having a good time.”

Our appreciation and thanks to all the Rodrock Mom's Council volunteers.
